Gamble Ranch produces grapes that can stand up to the style of Chardonnay we
love: big, bold and gutsy, but never out of balance.  We give the juice a gradual month-long fermentation in barrel, and then allow the wine to go through 100% malolactic fermentation. During aging, we stir lees weekly to integrate the oak and give the wine extra creamy richness.

"Another rich, honeyed style of wine fermented and aged in 100% new French oak is the 2013 Chardonnay Gamble Ranch. This has a light gold, greenish-hued color and plenty of white peach, honeysuckle and toasty oak. Medium to full-bodied, with outstanding purity, richness and length, it should keep nicely for 3-4 years."

A kiss of smoky, creamy vanilla bolsters this elegantly styled, moderately rich effort. Shows off citrus, green apple and pear flavors, ending with a smoky aftertaste of roasted marshmallow. Drink now. 1,138 cases made.
