2005 Rancho Del Oso Cabernet Sauvignon 1.5L

"From Howell Mountain, the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Rancho Del Oso spends a little longer in oak than the other Sbragia wines, about 24 months. It offers up a deep ruby/purple color and lots of graphite, blackcurrant, floral notes, and more blackberry and cassis on the mouth. It’s dense, full-bodied and ripe with underlying minerality. Drink it over the next 12-15+ years.

Ed Sbragia already had a sensational legacy as the master winemaker for top wines at Beringer before he founded his own brand. His pricing philosophy is to be admired, as is the quality of the wines. In short, consumers are receiving outstanding value."

2004 Rancho Del Oso 1.5L

Owned by Betty O'Shaughnessy, this vineyard is located at the very top of Howell Mountain and is named after the red bear that climbs the deer fence and swims in the reservoir. I love the big fruit flavors and unmistakable intensity of Howell Mountain fruit.

Owned by Betty O'Shaughnessy, this vineyard is located at the very top of Howell Mountain and is named after the red bear that climbs the deer fence and swims in the reservoir. I love the big fruit flavors and unmistakable intensity of Howell Mountain fruit. Because the tannins were nice and mature, the wine has power and suppleness at the same time. The fruit aromas and flavors are definitely in the dark cherry, blackberry category, with a touch of black plum.

I love the big fruit flavors and unmistakable intensity of Howell Mountain fruit. This wine leaps from the glass with ripe black fruit aromas - cherries, berries, plums - that dance across the palate at first sip.
