OUR WINES
We source wine grapes from over 50 acres of our family-owned estate vineyards here in Dry Creek Valley, as well as purchasing from our favorite vineyards in the Sonoma Valley, and throughout Napa Valley, namely high elevation sites on Howell Mountain and Mt Veeder. We are known for our big, rich, yet balanced wine style and specialize in Chardonnay, Zinfandel, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Dry Creek Valley, a premium winegrowing region, is located in Northern Sonoma County, California, only an hour and a half north of San Francisco, just outside of the town of Healdsburg. Renowned for its idyllic, undisturbed beauty, Dry Creek Valley is home to over 9,000 acres of vineyards that carpet the intimate 16-mile long x 2-mile wide valley, floor to hillside. With a grape growing history going back 140 years – one of the longest in California – producing premium winegrapes is core to this region. In fact, the valley boasts one of the densest concentrations of Old Vine Zinfandel in the world.
TIM BACINO
PROPRIETOR, BROOKSIDE WINERY

Tim Bacino is a sixth-generation descendant of Theophile Vaché, who founded Brookside Winery in 1832, one of California’s oldest family wine legacies. Under the Vaché and Biane families, Brookside grew into the largest wine producer in California and the sixth-largest winery in the United States.
In 2008, Tim began reviving that heritage through GEN 7 Wines, named in honor of his daughter Gabriella. From GEN 7’s Napa Valley tasting room, he has reconnected the family’s historic roots with a modern vision centered on premium winemaking, hospitality, and long-term stewardship, personally tasting and selecting fruit from boutique vineyards across California.
Tim’s ties to the Sbragia family run deep: his cousin, Jon Biane, worked alongside Ed at Beringer Vineyards for years. When Tim and Ed reconnected in late 2025, the two families found a shared commitment to craftsmanship, stewardship, and exceptional wine.
“We are honored to become stewards of the Sbragia legacy and to ensure that both family histories continue to thrive for generations to come.” – Tim Bacino
ED SBRAGIA
FOUNDER
When Ed was growing up, wine meant both livelihood and quality of life to his family. Ed’s grandfather, an immigrant from Tuscany, had naturally gravitated to the wineries flourishing in California at the turn of the century. Ed’s father acquired his own vineyards near Healdsburg, growing zinfandel grapes for sale and home winemaking.
In the Tuscan tradition, good red wine was a part of every family dinner. The vineyards meant hard work for young Ed – pruning, thinning, harvesting, and crushing. Ed majored in chemistry at the University of California at Davis, headed for a career in science. But his family background made him the top candidate for a job in a winery laboratory upon graduation.
Quickly realizing that the winemaker’s job was what he wanted, he returned to California State University at Fresno for a master’s degree in enology. After a year working at a Sonoma County winery, he learned about an opening as winemaker Myron Nightingale’s assistant at Beringer in Napa Valley. “Myron was a great teacher. He was the most intuitive winemaker I’ve ever known. He understood that winemaking requires subjective input – a feeling – just like painting or sculpture or any work to which you dedicate yourself.” Ed spent 32 years as the Winemaster, garnering a reputation as a world-class winemaker, even winning Wine Spectator’s Wine of the Year award twice; to this day, he is the only winemaker to win for a white and red wine.
In 2006, Ed and his wife, Jane, purchased the old Lake Sonoma Winery facility to fulfill his dream and promise to his father to start a family winery. “The Family Vineyards are my father’s legacy to me and my children. I love this land and making wine from it. Bottling it under the family name affirms all the work my father did for me. It is something I had to do to show my gratitude to my father, Gino.”
