2016 La Promessa Zinfandel

Each Tuesday at Sbragia we sit down with our Winery Ambassador and Educator to taste one wine from our portofilo to discover the sights, aromas, and flavor profile. You can view this video series on IGTVFacebook and Youtube each week.

This week on Tasty Tuesday, we taste a winery favoirte, the 2016 La Promessa Zinfandel from Dry Creek Valley. The name of this wine — and the vineyard from which it is sourced — means “The Promise” in Italian. It was chosen for the promise I made to my father to continue our family’s long winemaking tradition in California. The vineyard is located next to our winery on a rocky, southwest-facing slope that is arguable in the warmest part of the Dry Creek Valley. Prunes, dried figs, allspice and cloves dominate on the nose with a lovely cherry compote element on the palate. This wine was made for BBQ.
